Movement: Movement activities not only give us sensory input and breaks, but they also practice gross motor skills, which are the basis for fine motor skills:
- Movement activities will be theme-related with our craft and learning for the day.
- Movement and Crafting will help us strengthen the following: shoulder stability, wrist stability, hand strength (hand muscles and hand arch), open web space, sense of touch/somatosensory perception, finger thumb isolation and opposition, and pencil grasps: pincer and tripod.
Learn: A short period of time will be devoted to learning about the item we are making for our craft.
- The purpose of this is to help children learn and practice the metacognitive thinking strategy of making connections by using the method of a theme for the day.
- Many crafts and related instruction will be part of the Social Sciences as well as possibly Reading/ELA and Math.
