Small Group Tutoring: Writing and Text Dependent Analysis (TDA): Grades 3-8

During weekly group sessions, students will be instructed by the teacher, as well as work with the teacher and each other to:

  1. Analyze the text read, both orally and in written form.
  2. Determine what the subsequent TDA question is asking about the text. (Many errors are made on standardized assessments due to students not understanding what a question is asking and/or skipping portions of a multi-part question.)
  3. Memorize an acronym, commonly used by area school districts, to learn a format for writing TDA’s that meet standardized test expectations.
  4. Learn how to determine what evidence from the text is the appropriate to include in a TDA written response.
