My name is Shelly Hess, and I am a Kindergarten teacher and the President and Owner of Learning Tower, LLC. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from La Roche College, am PA-certified in both Elementary and Special Education, have a Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership degree from Geneva College, and have Graduate Studies in the specialized area of Dyslexia as well as am certified to instruct the Orton-Gillingham Approach to Teaching Reading for Dyslexic students through The University of San Diego. In May of 2012 I published a Bible Study through Xulon Press entitled, Whom The Manger Holds. It is available for purchase through www.amazon.com. I have been teaching Kindergarten as well as tutoring students of various ages and ability levels for more than a decade. I am thorough and effective, and I enjoy being creative in developing individual plans to instruct, remediate, or enrich each student based on his/her needs. In addition to helping students grow in their understanding, I truly do enjoy their company and watching their confidence improve! Also, as a Kindergarten teacher, working with Preschoolers to provide Preschool Early Intervention and Kindergarten Readiness tutoring and instruction is a passion of mine. I enjoy hosting Preschool and Kindergarten Readiness Camps for Preschool students as well. Additionally, providing Homeschool instruction, portfolio review, and various forms of management services are areas that I have really taken great interest in, and I look forward to growing into working with more families who Homeschool. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with students who attend public, private, cyber, and Homeschool, and I enjoy learning about, watching, and participating in the variety of ways that children are able to receive a top notch education today! Anyone who knows me well will tell you that I love to learn, and I love to learn about learning! As a result, I read books, professional articles, and blogs, as well as seek out many Professional Development opportunities. I’m always ready to think outside the box and consider new ideas to tailor your child’s education. I believe that your child has wonderful tomorrows in store, and education is an important part of that because, as Dr. Seuss said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go” (Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!).
